Theme: Toby screaming about needles.
I went for a walk with Adela today at around 10:30am today. During that walk, I shared with her that Sebastian had a bad night trying to sleep. He kept recalling a moment, during Toby’s palliative treatment at home, when Toby started screaming.
(I think this was early into his care, when a saline bag ran out and stopped delivering morphine into him).
Adela shared that she had been having the same memory for the last few days. Within the last few days, Emily shared that she had been thinking about his screaming whenever we were trying to give Toby a flu-shot. This was in response to when I shared with Emily that I was thinking about how Toby would scream while getting his bloodwork done at Sick Kids because it was his way of asserting control over his discomfort of needles.
Something that has occurred recently is that Emily and I both recently received our first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
