I was inspired to re-explore lucid dreaming, after having not seriously exploring it since I was a teenager, almost 25 years ago.
I went to sleep with a simple objective: I want to see Toby.
When I woke up, I actually remembered some elements of my dream state. Some are now fuzzy (I didn’t record them down right away, which is why I’ve started this blog). The elements I remember clearly, are:
- A construction/back-hoe vehicle excavating a hole.
- A sequence where a wealthy couple were talking about marriage. A particular word stood out: “Benefactor”.
When I woke up, I asked myself: How might these be connected to my objective to see Toby? And then something clicked.
I remember a story Toby shared with me a while ago about how early dinosaur fossils were collected for private collectors. Early archeological expeditions required wealthy benefactors to pay for them. It suddenly felt like what I was recalling of my dream state was like walking into a story in progress, being told by Toby.
For this reason, this is my first of what I hope will be many blog entries into trying to explore the content of my brain for my fondest memories of Toby, and perhaps even more.
